Membership Requirements

  • A person who has registered as a foreigner (subject to the application below) or a person who has reported domestic residence
  • Overseas Koreans who have completed resident registration in accordance with Article 6, Paragraph 1, Item 3 of the Resident Registration Act

acquisition date

  • Acquired immediately on the date of entry
    • Study abroad (D-2), general training elementary, middle and high school students (D-4-3), non-professional employment (E-9), permanent residence (F-5), marriage immigration (F-6)
    • In the case of a person who has previously obtained the qualification for a local insured person or who has not obtained the qualification due to unavoidable reasons set by the Corporation, and re-enters the country and pays insurance premiums for the period of overseas stay (limited to stay abroad within 6 months) If it is later than the date of alien registration, acquisition 2021.3.1. For international students who have previously entered Korea, it will be acquired on March 1, 2021 (Ministry of Health and Welfare Notice No. 2021-63 ‘21.2.26.)
  • Acquired on the day 6 months have elapsed after entering the country
    • Among those eligible for health insurance, those who have a status of residence that are not eligible to be acquired immediately on the date of entry, and those who are eligible for natural insurance, the expected acquisition date after 6 months is ‘19.7.16. Even before ‘19.7.16. acquisition

Application process

  • When applying by yourself (immediate processing)
    • Immediate processing with alien registration card
  • Family registration
    • Documents confirming family relationship
    • Documents issued in Korea within 3 months) and each family member to be registered Foreigners with an alien registration card have no means to confirm changes in family relationships, so in principle, they must submit supporting documents whenever their qualifications change. If you rejoin the household within 3 months, you do not need to submit separate supporting documents.
